Spiral staircases for villas and boutique hotels

A spiral staircase gets you up to a terrace, a lookout or a second floor in very little space, and becomes the piece everyone photographs. We make it in steel to the architect’s measure, like the staircase at the Caletón 68 boutique hotel in Cap Cana.

Caletón 68, in Cap Cana

For Caletón 68 we fabricated a spiral staircase with a central column, timber treads and a stainless steel handrail. The column was painted in a strong colour so the staircase would be part of the hotel’s design and not just a way up.

A staircase like this combines three materials with very different tolerances. So we draw it in 3D, and our engineering team checks the column and the support of each tread before cutting.

Measurements taken on site

In villas and hotels the staircase usually comes last, when slabs, terraces and openings are already built and never match the drawing exactly. We measure on your site with digital equipment and fabricate from what is really there.

In the plant we laser-cut the treads and plates, shape the handrail, weld and paint. We install it with our own crew, also on high terraces.

For the coastal climate

A stainless steel handrail stands up to salt air better than painted steel, and the column is protected by paint applied in the plant. The Coast Plan checks rust, paint and anchors and leaves a report with photos for the villa manager or the hotel’s chief engineer.

We also fabricate second floors, mezzanines and railings for straight staircases, to the architect’s measure.

What we need to start

To quote a spiral staircase we need a photo of the opening or the place it will go, the floor-to-floor height and the architect’s idea: rough diameter, direction of turn, materials and colour. If the building is not up yet, the floor plan is enough. We send a clear price, with what it includes and the delivery time, and before fabrication you approve the 3D model with every tread in place.

Frequently asked questions

What materials can the staircase have?

A steel structure, timber treads and a stainless steel handrail, as at Caletón 68. Other combinations are agreed with your architect.

Can I choose the colour?

Yes. The structure is painted in the colour you choose.

Do you make outdoor staircases?

Yes. We paint them in the plant, and the Coast Plan checks for rust and salt-air corrosion.

Do I need a drawing?

Not a full one: with a photo or a sketch and measurements taken on site we model it in 3D.
