Curved roofs for amphitheaters and stages

For the Larimar City amphitheater we fabricated the curved roof over the stage and the railings for the stairs of four towers. It was structure and finish at the same time: the roof had to work as cover and as a visible piece of the whole complex.

Projects like this are solved first in the 3D model, where we try out the curve, the clear height over the stage and the position of the columns so they do not block the audience’s view.

Lights, speakers and drapes hang under a stage roof. So the structure is designed with planned load points and room for cabling. Our engineering team checks the truss with those loads, not only with the weight of the roofing.

The stage’s electrical panel comes out of the same plant and, if the design calls for it, laser-cut pierced panels for the backdrop, the railings or the façade of the event area.

Hotels in Punta Cana and Bávaro use their amphitheaters every night for shows, and plazas and tourist complexes use them for concerts and fairs. Either way the roof lives outdoors and close to the sea: we paint it in the plant, and the Coast Plan regularly checks rust, paint and anchors.

Many of these projects start with a sketch by the show designer or a photo of a stage the client liked. From that reference we prepare a 3D model, adjust it with you and your sound or lighting engineer, and quote the structure, the railings and the decorative panels separately, so you can decide which parts to build in a first stage. Every fabrication stage is recorded with photos sent to your phone, and if you wish you can see your structure in our plant before it leaves for the site.
