Motorcycle-taxi shelters for town councils

On many street corners the motoconcho riders wait in the sun or under a makeshift tarp. We design motorcycle-taxi shelters on a steel frame, with a roof, seats and pierced panels in the Palms, Cayena and Taína designs, for streets, plazas, hotel entrances and tourist areas.

Bringing order to the corner

A fixed shelter brings order to the space: riders get shade and a place to wait, pedestrians get the pavement back and the council can decide where stopping is allowed. In the tourist areas of Bávaro and Punta Cana, a well-designed shelter also improves the look of the street for visitors.

Three designs

Palms, with palm leaves; Cayena, with the hibiscus flower; and Taína, with drawings from the Taíno tradition. The pierced panels give shade and let air through, and the design can carry the municipality’s name or crest, or the logo of the hotel or plaza sponsoring the shelter.

We also have the idea of a smart bus shelter for urban and tourist routes, with lighting assembled on our electrical assembly line.

How it is made

We measure the site, draw the shelter in 3D, laser-cut the frame parts and the panels, weld and assemble the frame, roof and seats, and paint frame and panels. We install it on site with our own crew.

On the street the shelter lives outdoors: the Coast Plan checks for rust and salt-air corrosion, touches up paint and anchors and tightens the bolts.

For councils and sponsors

Many shelters are funded jointly by the council and a local sponsor: a hotel, a plaza or a company that puts its logo on a panel. We can quote a single pilot shelter or a series for a whole district, together with bins and benches in the same design. To get a quote, send us the location, photos of the corner and the chosen design.

With the riders

A shelter works if the riders use it. Before fabrication it pays to know how many motorcycles wait on the corner at the busiest hours and where they pull out into the street. With that we set the length of the shelter, the number of seats and the position of the columns so they do not block the way out.
