How to get a quote for a steel building: what to decide before asking for a price
Two buildings of the same size can have very different prices. The difference lies in the use, the cladding, the doors, the roof and the electrical side. This guide explains what to decide before asking for a quote, so you get a price you can compare and that does not change halfway through the job.
1. The use
First comes what the building is for: warehouse, workshop, production, farm building, shop. The use sets the clear height, the loads the structure will carry (an overhead crane, a mezzanine, equipment hung from the roof), the type of floor and how many doors are needed and of what size.
If you do not have a drawing yet, it is enough to explain what will happen inside and how many people and vehicles will come in. With that our engineering team can propose a first shape.
2. Size and site
Approximate length, width and height, and where the site is. A few photos of the plot, its access and the location help us foresee how the pieces and the crane will get in on assembly day. If there is a topographic survey or a soil study, include it: the foundations depend on it.
3. Cladding, skylights and doors
A building can stay open, like a canopy, or be closed with sheet all the way round. Skylights let in daylight and cut the use of lamps during the day. Doors, roll-up or sliding, are set by what comes in and goes out. Each of these decisions changes the price, so it pays to make them before quoting.
4. The roof
The aluzinc roof can be plain or tile profile, in several colours, and every sheet is made at exactly the length of your roof. By the sea, think about maintenance from the start: the Coast Plan checks rust and salt corrosion and re-tightens the bolts.
5. The electrical side
A building without panels does not work. If you know what equipment it will hold, include it: that way the quote can add the panels and the transfer switch from our own electrical line and, if you wish, remote monitoring. Doing structure and panels with the same supplier stops each part from waiting for the other.
6. What you get back
With that information we design the building in 3D, our engineering team reviews it and we send you a clear price, with what it includes and the delivery time. You can send your drawing or photos as PDF, DWG, DXF, JPG or PNG, through the form or on WhatsApp.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a drawing to get a quote?
No. A drawing helps, but a photo, a hand sketch and an explanation of the use are enough.
Which files can I send?
PDF, DWG, DXF, JPG or PNG, up to 10 files of 25 MB each.
Does the quote include the panels?
If you ask for them, yes: we assemble them on our own electrical line.
Can I see the building before it is made?
Yes. We design it in 3D and you see the model before fabrication.
Tell us about your project
